Palm Plantations Of Australia Launches New ‘Millettia’ Division

Leading oil palm seed producer and palm oil industry consultant Palm Plantations Of Australia has this week launched a new division dedicated to the research and development and commercial realisation of the Australian “Millettia pinnata” species, as a large scale biofuel plantation crop.

Palm Plantations Of Australia managing director, Neville Burman said “interest in the new species as a biofuel crop has been strong, given it’s wider tolerance to adverse climatic conditions, higher oil yield and greater carbon sink”.

“With our experience in palm oil and jatropha plantations, we are now also committed to the advancement of Millettia pinnata genetics for biofuel production.” Mr Burman said.

Millettia Plantations will supply high yielding Millettia pinnata seedlings for plantation establishment as well as specialised consulting services to help plantations achieve optimum yields.
